The Pratchgan

It's amazing what seems like a good idea at the time. The Ankh-Morpork Knitters Guild on Ravelry were having a group commiseration after the shock announcement that Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset alzheimers, someone suggested we make something like an afghan to send him & next thing I know my mouth runs away with me & I decide I'm gonna sew together 110 6" squares!

So now there are 97 other Ravellers all over Roundworld furiously knitting & crocheting squares which will then wing their way to me. Actually, apart from the odd panic attack at the prospect of messing up I'm really looking forward to it. There are quite a few squares finished already & they look fantastic. There are also loads of brilliant ideas floating around & I'm getting the urge to make a mini-afghan just for me.

Here's my effort - the Disorganiser MK IV as owned by Commander Sam Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.

And a close-up of the imp;

I'll update as & when progress is made & will be making sure I get plenty pics of the finished 'Pratchgan' before it gets sent to its new home.

***In the meantime you can see some of the fantastic squares people have made on our Flickr group page***

Hi shirley - just caught your message on my blog and had to return the favour! I'm going to try to make it along to the mad crafter night and also set up a public knitting night in the library - would you be interested in that if I can get permission?
